What a week it was. An abundance of information and excitement. I could not believe I was finally going to write my book-my memoir.

The presenters, Reid Tracy and Kelly Notaras, lavished the participants with a plethora of insights, data, sources, and of course assignments.

After the seven days my brain was like a humongous sponge saturated with excitement and dispatching it to every nerve in my body. I could not order the suggested books fast enough. it was during the Covid-19 quarantine so everything I did in preparation for my writing was online. I found webinars, YouTube videos, joined writing communities, and began organizing my story. I focused on classes teaching the craft of writing.

I did not think my brain could hold on to all that information. I was open to everything the challenge offered. I purchased Scrivener, a writing software which Kelly recommended. I did get discouraged as I was learning how to use the software because it was taking me longer than I thought it should for me to accomplish my writing goal for the day. But I hung in there until I got the hang of it and loved using it.

Before I wrote anything I put to use the knowledge I had and began the organization process I had learned from various teachers. I started with the mind map with all the ideas that came to mind for my story. From the mind map I created index cards corresponding to the ideas. After researching story structure, the five-point structure felt most comfortable for me. I made little sticky note for each segment on the index cards and arrangement them on the “W” formed by the five-point structure.

Coming up another phase of my writing journey.
