The taxi pulled in, on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. The release day of a book calls for a celebration. Taxi to America arrived two years after its conception. Once I had completed my manuscript, the editors and book designer joined me to bring it to its final stage. I am pretty sure my finger was a little shaky and my cheeks flushed when I pressed the “send” button on the last proof for print. Soon thereafter we set a release date. At that point, as you know from my previous blog posts, I called on Stella’s Taxi Drivers to begin their work.
For six weeks, we strategized and implemented what was necessary to create a buzz for my memoir. Our drivers were sprinkled throughout the United states and abroad. The team emailed friends and relatives, informing them of the up-and-coming release date of a must read memoir, Taxi to America. They visited libraries, local bookstores, chain bookstores, gift stores, promoting the book and requesting that they preorder. Together, we flooded the social media platforms. Our efforts generated an impressive 200 books in preorders. Of course, that calls for a celebration.
My husband, Charles, and I hosted the local drivers at our home. We chose foods depicting my two countries—Greece and America. In an atmosphere of excitement, pride, and enthusiasm, we sang the praises of our accomplishment. I will let the photos tell the rest of the story.
