From this to manuscript to book designer.
The edited manuscript traveled between me and the editor until it had a good flow and was down to 81,000 words from 100,000 plus words. It was as close as I was going to get to our goal of 80,000. And then it was time for copyedit. After copyedit another momentous accomplishment followed-sending the manuscript to layout. To say I was excited is an understatement. The manuscript was with the book designer!
Judy and I had done some preliminary work in preparation for this stage. We had chosen the book size and font size. I had shown her samples of what I liked in a book, and I expressed my desires and expectations for mine. She listened and began sending me samples using the few chapters I had sent to her.
I have received a first copy of the book cover from Judy and am loving it. The manuscript looks good at 246 pages. Even after all the editing Charles and I are finding minor errors which we are forwarding to Judy.
In the next couple of days, I expect to have it all ready for proofreading. I will send that copy to the proofreader and by the time she finishes I should have testimonials from the wonderful people who agreed to read the manuscript and return a blurb to be included in the book.
I cannot thank enough the individuals who agreed to read and write a testimonial just before the Thanksgiving holiday. I appreciate their gift of time. You will see who they are once the book is published.
I look forward to updating my post when the book is sent to the printer.
