Merry Christmas
It is Christmas Eve day. The sunshine which is filtering through the windows gives a false sense of warmth. The early morning temperature rose to a balmy 20 Fahrenheit. All is quiet, and warm in our house.
The sweet smell of baked baklava and the aroma of cinnamon in the simmering syrup lingers throughout the kitchen. The crackling sound the cooled off syrup created when I drizzled it over the hot delicacy is assurance that the syrup and the baklava were at the correct temperatures for perfect absorption.
While I waited for the baklava to cool off before placing the rectangular pieces on a platter, I indulged into scrolling through photographs of past Christmases. And that is when I decided rather than write a lengthy blog, I would share my photographs and a baklava recipe instead.
