What is Rotary?

I was delighted to accept an invitation to speak about my memoir, Taxi to America at Gloucester’s Rotary meeting. On a sunny, breezy day, I was welcomed at the Award Winning Cruiseport Gloucester.
Dedicated and caring individuals energized the room. These generous men and women, leaders in the community, give of time and knowledge to support local and global causes.
I enjoyed observing how they conducted their meeting. Not only did they cover the business end of it, they have a fun and entertaining way of raising additional funds during their luncheon. Anyone who celebrated a birthday contributed money to the pot. If a member enjoyed a vacation? Well! there was cash to be collected. More cash was collected if someone experienced a special moment. I cannot believe how many innovative reasons they came up with in order to have a laugh and collect funds.
Quite an impressive group.
Speaking about Taxi to America, to a group of individuals committed to help those in need was an honor. They listened attentively as I shared my journey of overcoming adversity from a very young age with strength, perseverance, and resilience.
