The celebration of Easter seems so long ago. For the Greek Orthodox members, reminders of Easter remain. We continue to have colored eggs on hand. The tradition of cracking eggs and the greeting of Hristos Anesti (Christ has risen) with the response of Alithos Anesti (Truly he has risen) continues for 40 days. It is in the belief of the Christian creed that Jesus ascended to Heaven after 40 days of his resurrection.
Preparing for the Easter celebration was not the only thing that kept me busy in April. I continued to attend writers’ group zoom meetings and events. I spend a great deal of time meeting people in person and virtually to schedule future book signings. As of this writing, I have booked through the middle of June.
In spite of the Holiday falling in April, which for me included Easter on April 9 and Orthodox Easter on April 16, I had 3 in person book events. I should add that in March I gave a presentation to; the Melissa Women’s Society of the Greek Church of Ipswich, to a book group in Peabody, and to the Manchester-by-the-Sea Library.
Following the photos, I will post links to Greek Easter traditions.
