Whew! I made it through the rough and messy draft. Thanks to Charles I had a revision I could assign to chapters in my Scrivener outline.
I used general terms for chapter names. Terms which were indicative of the subject covered in each section.
I found this part of the editing process frustrating and time consuming. I took a summer break for golf and resumed writing in the fall and winter between vacations.
The end of February 2022 I pick up the pace. I joined LifeWriters.US and focused on completing my memoir. Realizing the time for a professional editor was near in May I began interviewing editors. In the beginning of June, I met virtually and clicked with Kate Victory Hannisian. Between vacations and my contracting Covid-19 we accomplished all the edits necessary to have the manuscript ready for layout November 11, 2022.
Also, in May I found Judy Davison, my book designer. We had several conversations and made choices for all that could be decided prior to having the manuscript fully edited.
I would be remiss if I did not mention that I had attended the International Women’s Writing Guild (IWWG) in July. I was lucky that in 2022 the IWWG Convention was held in nearby Endicott College, Beverly, MA. I attended the workshops on social media. Not exactly my forte but as a good student I focused and began implementing my knowledge as soon as the workshops ended. I took the instructors’ advice and started slowly. So once a week I began posting on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Blogging was also highly recommended in the workshops which brought me to the next thing I needed and wanted to do, a website.
In July I had spoken to Tom Dennesen and in September we delved into creating the website.
And here I am blogging away!
